What We Believe

Doctrinal Statement

Plant Faith exists to advance the Kingdom of God through church planting and Gospel centered work. We hold to the historic, orthodox Christian faith as summarized below.

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final rule for faith and practice in every area of life.

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the grave, and now reigns as Lord. He will return again in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer at salvation, empowers Gospel ministry, and produces Christlike character in the life of every follower of Jesus.

Humanity and Sin

We believe all people are created in the image of God and possess inherent worth. We also believe all people are born sinners, separated from God, and unable to save themselves.

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by works but received as a gift, resulting in a transformed life.

The Church

We believe the local church is God's primary vehicle for making disciples, and that every believer is called to be an active, contributing part of a local body. We are committed to planting and strengthening churches that make disciples who make disciples.

Spiritual Gifts

We believe the sign gifts of tongues and prophecy served a foundational role in the early church and ceased with the completion of the New Testament canon and the passing of the apostolic age. We hold to a cessationist position and stand apart from the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements on this issue. We believe the Holy Spirit continues to work powerfully today through the Word of God, prayer, and the ongoing gifts given for the edification of the church.

The Great Commission

We believe every believer is called to make disciples of all nations, and that church planting is one of the most effective and biblical strategies for fulfilling that calling.

Eternity

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, eternal life for those who trust in Christ, and eternal separation from God for those who reject Him.
